SEVA Free Clinic

The Seva clinic is a weekly free clinic in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. Its mission is to provide accessible healthcare to the un- and under-insured residents for the community, and serves a patient population that is primarily made up of South and Southeast Asian immigrants and refugees. In addition to providing primary care, the student leadership teams work to develop culturally competent outreach programs to address issues such as the health inequities and stigma surrounding mental health issues in this population.

The clinic is hosted by Pritzker students in partnership with Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and the Indian American Medical Association Charitable Foundation (IAMACF). The clinic is located at the IAMACF’s clinic site at 2645 W Peterson Ave, Chicago IL 60659, and includes basic laboratory services and a limited pharmacy. It is held every Friday evening from 5-8:30pm.

We are seeking UChicago undergraduate/gap year students to assist with a variety of clinic duties, such as language interpretation, community outreach, and other administrative tasks. At this time, we have the greatest need for volunteers who speak common South Asian languages. This is a great opportunity if you are a pre-health student interested in gaining in-person experience in a clinical setting. You will also have the unique opportunity to network with medical students and physicians from multiple institutions. If you would like to get involved, please send an email to the following addresses:Meehir.Dixit@uchicagomedicine.org and Bipasha.Ray@uchicagomedicine.org
