At the Divisional Academic Ceremony, Pritzker School of Medicine faculty formally acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of graduating students by investing each student with an academic hood. This ceremony signifies the successful completion of the student's medical school training and welcomes graduates into the medical profession. In late winter/early Spring, the graduating class selects a Faculty Marshal for the ceremony. This person will hood each of the graduates as their name is called. (Students may also choose to invite another member of the University of Chicago faculty to hood them.) As a note, the hood is a gift to each student from the Pritzker School of Medicine.
Renting Academic Attire:
All degree candidates must wear a tam and gown to both the University Convocation and the Divisional Academic Ceremony. Students must order their tam and gown online at: uchicago.shopoakhalli.com.
The cost of tam and gown is $83.25, and the hood is a gift to the student.

- All Doctoral Candidates must rent or purchase online
- Oak Hall and the Bookstore will not offer a ship to home option for doctoral rental attire.
- Candidates must pay online when they place order
